Wallace Nutting was a man of many professions: photographer, writer, furniture maker to mane the most well known. His series of books “… (States name) Beautiful” advertised his photographs. He popularized hand colored photographs, and produced more than any other studio, in the late 1800’s through to the early 1900’s. They are very collectible, and usually very good quality photographs.
This river scene at sunset is very picturesque. The red sunset reflecting on the river, with the trees on either side of the river make this a very artistic picture. The hand coloring makes it look almost like a painting. The picture is 3” x 3 ¾”, and is framed to 6” x 6 ¾”.
